Modify/Cancel Reservation
 
Cancellation is allowed before vehicle pickup and without penalty. However, penalties may apply for rentals during peak season or luxury car groups. Different rates and conditions may also apply when changes are made to your reservation.
   
Additional Authorized Operator (AAO) Registration and Fee
 
If there is an additional driver, ensure that he/ she is added on the Rental Agreement. This can only be done at the rental counter at time of pick up. There is no coverage for damages/ accidents caused by unauthorized drivers.
The additional driver must present a valid local driving licence AND International Driving Permit (IDP), credit card and must comply with age restrictions.
Maximum number of AAO registered per rental may vary according to locations (e.g., for rentals in US, maximum of 4 additonal drivers are allowed per rental). Please check at time of reservation.
Additional fee may apply.
   
Terms for Minimum/Maximum Rental Period
 
The reserved rates may not apply when changes are made to the reserved rental period. (i.e.,) Reserved with weekly rates but only rented less than 6 days/ Reserved 3-6 days but rented more than 7 days
   
Extra Hour/Day Fee
 
Rental charges are computed based on a 24-hour rental day commencing at time of rental. The minimum rental period is 1 day. When returning a car, a 29 minute grace period is allowed from the time the vehicle was rented. An additional charge will incur if the vehicle is returned after the grace period.
   
One Way Rentals (Different Pick Up/Return Locations)
 
You can rent a vehicle from one location and drop it off at another. Additional charges or limited mileage may apply. Please check details during reservation.
   
Optional Services
 
You may request for NeverLost, Snow Tire/Chain, Child Seat etc at time of reservation. Additional fees apply.
72 hours prior reservation is required for requests for Snow Tire/Chain etc

Toll Roads & Traffic Violation
 
1. USA
PlatePass®
PlatePass® is an electronic means for paying road tolls. Hertz offers PlatePass® to enable Hertz customers to use cashless toll lanes on participating toll roads. If you choose to use it, you'll avoid delays at toll lanes and be on your way faster.
If you use PlatePass®, the credit card that you used for your rental will automatically be charged for tolls incurred at the cash rate and applicable service fee.
The PlatePass® service may be used on toll roads administered by the following toll road services:
E-Z Pass For Delaware (DE), Massachusetts (MA), Maryland (MD), Maine (ME), New Hampshire (NH), New Jersey (NJ), New York (NY), Ohio (OH), Pennsylvania (PA), Virginia (VA), West Virginia (WV)
I-Pass For Illinois (IL), Indiana (IN)
EZ Tag/TX Tag For Texas (TX)
Sun Pass/E Pass For Florida (FL)

- If you don't want to use PlatePass®, you must pay all tolls with cash or with your own toll transponder compatible to the toll road.

Traffic Violation
It is stated on the Rental Agreement that an Administration Fee will be charged to your credit card without prior notice should you violate traffic infringement. Paying the traffic penalty is the renter's responsibility.
All parking, traffic, and toll violation processing and billing is administered by American Traffic Solutions (ATS). Please direct any questions relating to a violation, including penalties and administration fees, directly to ATS at www.HertzRentalFine.com
2. Europe
Traffic Violation
- It is stated on the Rental Agreement that an Administration Fee will be charged to your credit card without prior notice should you violate traffic infringement. Paying the traffic penalty is the renter's responsibility. Renter should follow Traffic Authorities instructions to pay for any traffic penalty.

Emergency Roadside Assistance
 
In Europe, US, Canada, and many other countries, Hertz provides 24-hour Emergency Roadside Assistance. Just call the Emergency Roadside Assistance telephone number and a representative will assist you and make arrangements for you to be on your way as quickly as possible. Additional fees may apply upon service.
※ The Emergency Roadside Assistance telephone number can be found on the Rental Agreement (rentals in US/ Canada), keys to the vehicle (rentals in Europe) and on the front of the Hertz rental wallet and inside the glove box of all Hertz vehicles (rentals in Australia). Please check at the rental counter.
   
Premium Emergency Roadside Service
 
Allows the customer to pay a small fee and not be charged for certain services (i.e. keys locked in the car, lost keys, left lights on/dead battery etc. Waive up to USD 1000 when expenses incur due to irregualities).
Available at time of pickup at an extra fee of USD 4.00.

In Case of Accidents
 
You would need to contact the Police & Hertz Emergency Roadside Assistance department as soon as possible. Accident reports should be submitted to Hertz.

For information on PAI & PEC claims, please contact our staff at the reservation counter.
NOTE 2)
If you do not report the accident to the police, damages will not be covered even if you purchased insurance from Hertz.
   
Rental Agreement
 
At the rental counter, please ensure that all your details are correct before you sign the Rental Agreement. If there is an additional driver, ensure that he/she is listed on the Rental Agreement. There is no coverage for damages by drivers not registered.
   
Breathalyzers in France
 
From 1st July 2012, it is mandatory by law for every driver of a vehicle in France to possess a breathalyzer. If stopped by the authorities, the driver must be able to present an unused breathalyzer; otherwise he/she will be fined EUR 11.00. If it is not paid within 5 days, the fine increases to EUR 90.00.
Starting mid-September, Breathalyzer can be bought at Hertz counters (EUR 2.00) or petrol station or shops. Hertz will not be responsible if there is no breathalyzer in the vehicle.
